Current and future roadworks – North Somerset Council

The Hinkley Point to Avonmouth connection will be the first project where ‘T’ pylons will be operational in the world.

Work has now started in our area so we should expect some disruption.

I am in touch with the Council’s lead engineer and the Hinkley Connection team.

16th June – 23rd July: Closure of Moor Road

To allow the contractor working for National Grid (Balfour Beatty) to construct a bellmouth and Hinkley Connection haul road.

  • The start date for the temporary road closure (originally 10th June) has been pushed back to 16th June. This is to avoid concurrent road closures of Nailsea Wall and the Moor Road.
  • Nailsea Wall will re-open on 16th June, with the closure of Moor Road between Ham Lane/Claverham Drove and Kenn Street starting the same day. The one-way restriction along Ham Lane will also start on the 16th.
  • Given many locals use the moor road, I have been reassured that there will be clear temporary signage at the junction of High Street and Kenn Moor Road, which will be positioned to not block the pavements at the junction.
  • Properties along Ham Lane will have received letters from Balfour Beatty some time ago. Consequently, in order to ensure residents are fully aware of the exact details of the proposed temporary one-way arrangement, the contractor will knock on the doors of all the properties on Ham Lane this week to provide the latest information.
