Domestic abuse is a horrendous crime, which can have a long-term and devastating impact on families and particularly children.
I am extremely concerned that the lockdown restrictions have heightened domestic tensions and potentially cut off escape routes. I am in touch with the council’s Domestic and Sexual Abuse Coordinator and Community Safety team and am scrutinising our service provision in this area.
