Housing & planning

Housing is a priory but the homes we need are not getting built.

In fact, 45 per cent of the homes built by private house-builders in 2017/18 had four bedrooms or more.

We need to shape planning policy so that it works for local people and the countryside, rather than simply profit the volume house builders.

Neighbourhoods which incorporate a mix of uses and tenures, around spaces for social interaction, promote community inclusion, cohesion and resilience.

It is completely unfair to impose targets on communities which can only be met by private developers, and then to penalise those local communities if those builders do not deliver. Councillor Martin Tett, LGA housing spokesman
